Kadriorg0002Kadriorg Palace and the Park – is one of the most beautiful places in Tallinn. The baroque style palace built in 1718 by Italian architect Niccolo Michetti is located deep in Kadriorg Park.  While walking in the park you will see in a distance glowing Rusalka – a statue of siren built in the memory of a Russian sunk ship, also beautifully designed flower gardens and fountains.  The place and the palace acquired the name of Kadriorg because Russian tsar Peter the Great gave it to honour his wife Catherine (Catherine in Estonian is “Kadri”). Today the palace hosts Kadriorg Art Museum.  During the visit to museum you will see richly decorated Great Hall, former office of the President where he used to work in between the two world wars and many auxiliary rooms that are used today to display foreign artist painted pictures.
