Tallinn – the capital of Estonia, largest city and port of the country. You will be fascinated by the unusual architecture of the city, because most of the buildings of the medieval era are built from limestone. That gives a very unique look. The well preserved old town that consist of the upper and lower part will be interesting even for most demanding visitors. You will be surprised by the arrangement of the city, just five minute walk from the old town there is the modern part of the city with commercial and shopping centres. The city’s historical background is also very interesting, because there are many marks left by previous rulers of the country like Swedes, Danes, Russians and Germans. During the tour we will visit the upper part of old town called Toompea, there we will find Alexander Nevsky Orthodox church built in 1900, the oldest country’s church Toomkirik built in 1233, the Estonian parliament and the upper part of the old town surrounding fortress walls and towers. For sure during the tour we will visit two different viewpoints, from which opens an amazing view of Tallinn. Later on we will go down to the lower part of the old town to find famous Tallinn Town Hall Square with medieval gothic Town Hall, Merchant Guild houses, a rich selection of local souvenirs, a market of handicrafts, one of the oldest region’s pharmacy open since 1422 and finally impressive looking Hanseatic League merchant warehouses, where today we can find restaurants decorated in middle age style.
